To sum it up, this is an exceptionally warm and charming hotel that I would highly recommend. East Indies Mansion is a beautifully converted hotel from a house with over two hundred years of history, and the building itself carries an incredible sense of heritage. Our four-day, three-night stay was not only comfortable but also incredibly heartwarming. Although I typically stay at five-star hotels, I have to say this place matches, if not surpasses, any five-star hotel I’ve been to. It was spotlessly clean—I couldn’t find a single speck of dust. Despite the slightly mismatched proportions of the curtains to the windows and having only one bathroom in the room, the level of comfort more than makes up for these small quirks. Ms. Anna, who welcomed us, was impressively efficient and kind. The two other staff members, both Indian, one male and one female, were equally friendly and accommodating. Lastly, the location couldn’t be better. Almost all of the key attractions are within walking distance, and even if you need transportation, it’s just a short ride away. I cannot recommend this place enough—it’s truly a fantastic experience!

East Indies Mansion was a very beautifully decorated & rustic hotel. Cosy, well maintained, very clean & spacious. It’s not your typical modern hotel with pool & gym/tv etc, but if you are looking for a unique experience - staying in a home away from your home - you should come to East Indies. There are many comfy cosy spots n sofas on the ground level u can lounge in on rainy days or days when u just wish to relax out of your room! The central kitchen has tea coffee n snacks u could help yourselves too & you can also bring back your own food & eat in the comfort of the hotel kitchen- almost like your own private dining area- v shiok! The people there - esp Aitee - were super friendly warm helpful & attentive to our needs :) Aitee would give recommendations on where we can go & was very fun to chat with :))) Location also was very near hot spots like Armenian street n nearby theres great food spots bingsu, ciao ice cream, spicy nasi lemak, durian carts, etc etc etc…

One of our best hotel experience in Malaysia. The hotel has been renovated beautifully and in harmony with the original style but adding a very elegant touch. Although the general humidity of the city is generating some issues on the walls, the staff is evidently keeping the full hotel very clean down to the details, such as dehumidifing the room before the guests go to sleep or starting the mosquito repellent switch for the night. The room is huge and I would highly advises the Nutmeg B and C since they have internal windows so there was no noise from the busy streets. The receptionists were great and have us lot of tips after welcoming us with sour plumbs drinks. Do not think twice, there will be no regrets (except breakfast which was very delicious but western which could be fault of the tourists requesting it though)

Loved the location, close to beach street and little India. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. The room was very spacious with 4 double beds, more than enough for a family of 4. Even though its location, very central, the rooms are very quiet. I really love the friendliness of the staff. They gave lots of suggestions on where to go or where to eat. Loved the little local desserts every night brought to our room. Even though there are lots of plants around the mansion, there were no mosquitos. ( And I get bitten very easily). The check-in was also very fast. I would definitely return next time we visit George town.

Everything. This is not your normal hotel. There is an old style history that is so different to your standard place. The rooms are large, uniquely outfitted, and had a charm that is hard to find. The staff were super polite and helpful. The location is great for enjoying Penang, especially the food. We enjoyed Kapitan, The Spicy Crab, and The Black Kettle the most and all are within easy walking distance. For atmosphere, try the restaurant directly opposite the Mansion. The whole family, including our 8 and 11 year daughters, all want to come back and stay again.
